The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Ball was shot and killed in his home on Selden Road. The perpetrator, identified as Kyle Johnson, entered Ball's home through an unlocked back door and proceeded to shoot him in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun while he slept. Johnson then set his own house on fire and fired shots at responding firefighters, creating a chaotic and dangerous scene.
