On a cold January afternoon in 2016, the life of 18-year-old Shameek Miller was violently cut short in a shooting in East New York, Brooklyn. A Black male, Miller was known to be a high-ranking member of the Gorilla Stone Bloods, a faction of the Bloods street gang. His death, which occurred on January 16, was believed by investigators to be entangled in the web of gang-related violence that plagued the neighborhood, possibly a retaliation for a homicide that had taken place just a day earlier. ...
