In the early morning hours of August 16, 2016, the life of 22-year-old Darius Burke-Wells was tragically cut short in Rochester, New York. A Black/African American male, he was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body near a vacant house on Sherman Street, in the vicinity of Elsdon Street, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, Burke-Wells was pronounced dead at the scene.
