On the evening of February 8, 2017, an act of violence cut short the life of 18-year-old Zachery Lanier in the Bronx, New York. The young man was fatally shot outside a family shelter located near 1195 Sherman Avenue. The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m., also left a 24-year-old man wounded with a gunshot to the buttocks.
