On December 25, 2017, Jarvis Porter, a 35-year-old resident of Rochester, NY, was tragically shot and killed outside an apartment building on Genesee Street. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when an officer on patrol heard gunshots and discovered Porter lying on the ground. Despite emergency responders' efforts, Porter succumbed to his injuries at the scene. This fatal shooting marked Rochester's 29th homicide of the year and was part of a series of violent incidents in the area.
