On the evening of April 13, 2018, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in the Marble Hill section of the Bronx, leaving one man dead and another wounded. The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Keith Bailey, a resident of the Bronx. Responding to reports of shots fired at approximately 8:45 p.m. near 5240 Broadway, police discovered Bailey with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A second victim, a 20-year-old man, was also found at the scene with gunshot wounds and was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition.
The investigation into Bailey's murder led detectives to surveillance footage that captured the alleged shooter. In an effort to generate leads, the New York Police Department released the video to the public. They also provided a description of a person of interest: a Black male, believed to be around 25 years old, standing approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hoodie and blue jeans.
Despite the available footage and a description of the potential suspect, no immediate arrests were made in connection with Keith Bailey's death. The case drew attention to the ongoing issue of gun violence in the borough as law enforcement continued to seek information from the public to bring those responsible to justice. As of the latest available reports, the investigation remains active, but the case is unsolved, with no arrests having been announced.
