Cory Mitchell, a 32-year-old Black man, was killed in the Bronx in the early hours of May 11, 2019, after violence erupted on East 224th Street in the Wakefield area. Police responding to the scene around 1:30 a.m. found him down with a gunshot wound to the head, the kind of injury that leaves little time for goodbyes and even less time for answers.
