In the spring of 2018, a young Black man named Valentin Cruz, who was 20 years old, lost his life in a burst of gunfire on a street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. On the afternoon of May 23rd, what began as a heated argument quickly spiraled into a deadly confrontation.
