As the sun rose over New Orleans on July 18, 2016, it cast a light on a tragedy that had unfolded in the Algiers neighborhood. HenryLee Varnado, a 36-year-old man, was found fatally wounded, his life abruptly ended by gun violence. The Orleans Parish Coroner's office would later identify him as one of two victims in separate fatal shootings that occurred on that day. The community was left to grapple with the sudden loss of a man described as funny and outgoing.
