In the early morning hours of July 7, 2018, a simmering altercation on Teunis Street in Albany's South End erupted into deadly violence. Amid the chaos of a large fight, 32-year-old Elijah Cancer, a Black man known for his work in violence prevention, stepped in to mediate.
