In the spring of 2015, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm at a popular Albany park, leaving a young man dead and a community searching for answers. The life of Latwan Hankins, a 21-year-old male, was cut short on the basketball courts of Livingston Park on April 29, 2015. Two other men, aged 23 and 28, were also wounded in the attack but survived their injuries.
