In the fall of 2018, the life of a young Syracuse boy was tragically cut short, a victim of violence that erupted on a city street. Twelve-year-old James J. Springer III, a sixth-grader at Grant Middle School, was fatally shot in the stomach outside his home on the evening of October 10, 2018. The young male, who was known for his love of skateboarding, biking, and drawing, was rushed to Upstate University Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
