Jensy Amparo, a 26-year-old male, was tragically killed in the Bronx, New York. On the evening of March 21, 2019, Amparo was sitting in his car near East 167th Street and the Grand Concourse. In a sudden and violent encounter, a man approached the vehicle, opened the passenger door, and, at gunpoint, demanded Amparo's ring. During the robbery, the assailant shot Amparo in the shoulder before fleeing the scene.
Amparo was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The investigation into the murder of Jensy Amparo led authorities to identify a suspect. The New York City Police Department sought 22-year-old Keron Codd for questioning in connection with the fatal shooting. Codd, also known by the street name 'Gucci,' was described as a Black male, 5'8' tall, and weighing around 160 pounds. Believing he might have fled the state, law enforcement agencies, including the Portland Police Department in Maine, assisted in the search for him. A reward of $2,500 was offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
After an extensive manhunt, Keron Codd was apprehended. In February of 2020, authorities successfully located and arrested Codd. His capture brought a sense of resolution to the case, which had been described as particularly tragic because it was not a gang or drug-related homicide, but rather a senseless act of violence against an innocent man over a piece of jewelry.
