In the summer of 2019, the life of 52-year-old Melissa Kazmierczak, a female described by loved ones as a 'beautiful soul,' came to a tragic and violent end in Buffalo, New York. On the morning of August 4th, police and firefighters responded to a call about a body at a residence on Stanton Street. Inside, they discovered Melissa in a bedroom, having been fatally shot.

Melissa's husband, Allen Kazmierczak, who was 46 at the time, was present and reportedly confessed to firefighters that he had shot his wife. He was promptly taken into custody. Allen Kazmierczak was charged with second-degree murder in connection with his wife's death. He was arraigned in Buffalo City Court and held without bail. In October 2020, he pleaded guilty to the charge. The Erie County District Attorney's Office stated that he shot his wife multiple times with the intent to cause her death.
On December 7, 2020, Allen Kazmierczak was sentenced for the murder of his wife. A State Supreme Court Justice handed down a sentence of 18 years to life in prison.
