In the late summer of 2019, a tragedy struck the Yonkers community and the New York City Police Department with the death of one of its officers. Thirty-five-year-old Johnny Rios, a male NYPD officer, was found deceased in his Yonkers home on Shoreview Drive in the early morning hours of a Tuesday in mid-August. The initial investigation conducted by the Yonkers Police Department indicated that there were no signs of foul play involved in his death.
