Kevin Barton, a 29-year-old Black man from the Bronx, was killed after gunfire erupted outside a residential building in the Morrisania area on the night of September 23, 2019. Police said they found him near the entrance around East 162nd Street and Melrose Avenue, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. First responders rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
