In the early morning hours of November 2, 2019, a tragic shooting in Brooklyn claimed the life of 25-year-old Justin Rolon. The incident unfolded just before 12:30 a.m. in front of the Williamsburg Houses on Maujer Street, only a block away from where Rolon lived. Officers from the 90th Precinct arrived at the scene to find Rolon unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
Paramedics quickly transported him to Woodhull Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Authorities believe the shooting was a targeted attack. Some reports indicated that Rolon was a member of the Latin Kings and had a history of 28 arrests for various offenses, including assault and robbery. Despite his past, his family remembered him as a caring individual who looked after his grandmother and younger brother. He was one of six siblings.
The investigation into Rolon's murder led police to identify three suspects. Surveillance footage captured the trio arriving at the scene in a white Mercedes-Benz. The men, described as being between 21 and 25 years old, were seen walking toward the area where the shooting occurred and then fleeing in the same vehicle. Police released descriptions of the suspects to the public in hopes of generating leads. One suspect was described as a Hispanic man wearing an orange hooded sweater, light-colored ripped jeans, and white and black sneakers. A second suspect, also identified as a Hispanic man, wore a black hooded sweater, black jeans, and white and black sneakers. The third, also a Hispanic man, was seen in a gray hooded sweater, black pants, black sneakers, and a black hat while holding a black jacket. As of late 2025, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have continued to ask for the public's assistance in bringing those responsible for Justin Rolon's death to justice.
