In the quiet town of Newburgh, New York, a horrific act of violence shattered the peace on January 26, 2020. On that Sunday morning, police responded to reports of gunshots at a home on Route 300. Inside, they discovered a tragic scene. Jimmy Crisantos, a 27-year-old male, was found deceased, the victim of a fatal shooting.
Tragically, Jimmy was not the only victim that day.
His wife, 26-year-old Shatavia Crisantos, and her 9-year-old son from a previous relationship, Giovanni Tambino, were also found shot to death. The couple's 3-year-old son was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds but miraculously survived and was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition. Another child present in the home was thankfully unharmed. The brutality of the crime sent shockwaves through the community, leaving friends and family to mourn the immense loss of a young family.
The investigation into the triple homicide quickly led to a suspect. The day after the discovery of the bodies, Town of Newburgh Police arrested 30-year-old Kaliek Goode-Ford. Authorities revealed that a relationship existed between Goode-Ford and the victims, and he was identified as the sole shooter. The alleged motive behind the heinous act was Goode-Ford's suspicion of an affair between Jimmy Crisantos and his own girlfriend.
In the aftermath of the killings, divers from the New York State Police searched the Hudson River near the Walkway Over the Hudson, looking for the weapon used in the commission of the crimes. Goode-Ford was subsequently charged with three counts of second-degree murder, one count of attempted murder in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon. In January 2025, after a two-week trial, a jury found Kaliek Goode-Ford guilty on all charges. In March of that same year, a judge sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. While Goode-Ford maintains his innocence and intends to appeal, the conviction brought a measure of closure to a case that had deeply scarred the Newburgh community.
