In the quiet town of Newburgh, New York, a horrific act of violence shattered the community in January 2020. Nine-year-old Giovanni Tambino, a young boy, was tragically killed in a triple homicide. The incident, which occurred on a Sunday morning, also claimed the lives of his mother, 26-year-old Shatavia Crisantos, and her husband, 27-year-old Jimmy Crisantos.
The family was at their home on Route 300 in the Chadwick Lake area when the shooting took place.
Responding to reports of shots fired, police discovered a devastating scene. Along with the three deceased victims, they found a three-year-old boy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Miraculously, the young child survived and was transported to Westchester Medical Center in critical but stable condition. Another child who was present in the home was thankfully unharmed.
The investigation quickly led to a suspect, 30-year-old Kaliek Goode-Ford of Newburgh. Authorities established that Goode-Ford had a relationship with the victims, though a clear motive for the brutal crime was not immediately released. He was apprehended and charged with three counts of second-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon. In an attempt to conceal his crime, Goode-Ford discarded the gun and its magazine in the Hudson River.
In January 2025, Kaliek Goode-Ford was convicted on all charges related to the January 2020 shooting. He was found guilty of killing Jimmy Crisantos, Shatavia Crisantos, and her young son, Giovanni Tambino, as well as the attempted murder of the three-year-old boy whom he shot five times. Following his conviction, Goode-Ford faced the possibility of life in prison without parole.
