Otis Adams, a 48-year-old male from Mount Vernon, was fatally shot in Brooklyn on the night of May 7, 2020. The incident occurred in the Brownsville neighborhood, where Adams had gone to intervene in a dispute involving his daughter.
Reports indicate that Adams's daughter was engaged in a physical altercation with another woman. In an effort to protect his daughter, Adams became involved.
The situation escalated tragically when an accomplice of the other woman involved in the fight allegedly shot him.
The shooting took place at approximately 10:10 p.m. at a building in Brownsville. Following the incident, authorities were notified, and an investigation was launched into the homicide.
Shortly after the fatal shooting, the New York City Police Department apprehended a suspect. Rondell Russell, a 22-year-old resident of Brooklyn, was arrested in connection with the death of Otis Adams. Russell has since been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
