In the early morning hours of May 15, 2020, the life of 25-year-old Julian Oden was tragically cut short in his Bronx apartment. A Black/African American male, Oden was at his home at 4439 3rd Avenue when an altercation broke out around 2:30 a.m. His wife, in another room at the time, heard a single gunshot. Rushing to find the source of the noise, she discovered her husband bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite being rushed to St.
Barnabas Hospital, located just across the street, Oden succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Oden's death quickly pointed towards a drug-related robbery. The narrative of that fatal morning began to unfold as law enforcement identified two suspects from Manhattan: Travis Moore, 29, and Kyeone Stone, 25. In a swift apprehension, police captured the pair as they attempted to flee the scene in a taxi. The subsequent search of the suspects and their getaway vehicle yielded firearms and drugs, further solidifying the initial theory of a robbery gone wrong. Oden's wife was able to identify one of the alleged killers, providing a crucial piece of evidence for the prosecution.
Both Moore and Stone were charged with a host of serious crimes, including murder, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana, and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Following their arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court, they were remanded without bail as the case against them began its journey through the legal system. The death of Julian Oden, a father of two who was known by the nickname 'Rampage,' sent ripples through his community, highlighting the devastating impact of violent crime.
