In the early morning hours of June 9, 2020, 22-year-old Jorge Luis Bonilla was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, by a private vehicle. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the face and was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital, launching a homicide investigation into his death.
The Rochester Police Department, in conjunction with the New York State Division of Parole, conducted a lengthy and collaborative investigation into the killing.
Their efforts ultimately led them to identify Treyquan Davis, who was 25 years old at the time, as a participant in the homicide. A significant factor in the investigation was that Davis was on parole at the time of the shooting for a prior conviction of first-degree manslaughter.
Following his arrest, Treyquan Davis was charged with the murder of Jorge Luis Bonilla. In June 2022, a Monroe County jury convicted Davis of Murder in the Second Degree, as well as two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The successful prosecution was hailed by the Monroe County District Attorney's Office as a collaborative effort that brought justice to Bonilla's family. In August 2022, Treyquan Davis was sentenced for his role in the violent death of Jorge Luis Bonilla.
