In the late afternoon of August 27, 2020, tragedy struck in the courtyard of the Marcy Houses in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. Jamel Edmonds, a 32-year-old male, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a fatal encounter that cut his life short. The discovery was made just after 6 p.m. behind his own home on Park Avenue, a place that should have been a sanctuary.
