In the winter of 2020, in Rochester, New York, the life of 32-year-old Jonathan D. Walker was tragically cut short. On December 19th, police were called to the scene of a shooting at the Resolute Circle apartment complex. There they discovered that two men had been shot. One of these men was Jonathan Walker, who was killed in the parking lot. The other man was wounded and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was eventually released.
The Rochester Police Department's investigation
into the homicide led them to identify two suspects: Arthur Allen of Rochester and Marcas Collier of Georgia. The motive behind the deadly shooting was determined to be drug-related. In February of the following year, Arthur Allen was apprehended in Rochester. His arrest was not without incident, as he allegedly injured two officers in the process. Marcas Collier was also taken into custody in Georgia.
Both men faced the legal consequences of their actions. Arthur Allen pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter. In April 2023, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison, to be followed by five years of post-release supervision. Marcas Collier also pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a sentence of 15 years in prison with five years of post-release supervision in February 2023. Prosecutors highlighted that the 'senseless gunfire over drugs' took place in broad daylight within an apartment complex, endangering the lives of innocent bystanders.
