In the spring of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon calm at a Brooklyn housing complex, leaving a family to grapple with a sudden and violent loss. Alister Walcott, a 34-year-old man from Brownsville, was fatally shot on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. The shooting took place shortly before 2 p.m. inside a Myrtle Avenue building within the Tompkins Houses development.
