In the early morning hours of June 26, 2021, a welfare check led to a grim discovery on the 1100 block of Whitney Avenue in Niagara Falls, New York. Inside a pickup truck, police found the body of 61-year-old Marty E. Kick, a white male resident of the city. He was pronounced dead at the scene from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The discovery, made around 8 a.m. north of Oakwood Cemetery, quickly turned into a homicide investigation led by Niagara Falls Police Department detectives.
