In the late hours of an early autumn day in Niagara Falls, New York, the life of 58-year-old Tracy Greene was brought to a sudden and violent end. On October 2, 2021, Greene was discovered deceased inside his barbershop located on 18th Street. He had been fatally shot shortly before 1 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene. The news of his death sent ripples of shock through the community where he was a familiar and well-regarded figure.
The Niagara Falls Police Department, in
conjunction with the U.S. Marshal Task Force, launched an immediate and intensive investigation into the homicide. Their efforts quickly led to a significant breakthrough. Just a day after the discovery of Greene's body, on October 3, 2021, authorities arrested 28-year-old Antonio Carr in connection with the murder. A search of Carr's residence uncovered a loaded handgun. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Another individual, 31-year-old Nicole M. Mcdougall, was also arrested and charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration for her role in interfering with the execution of the search warrant.
The case against Antonio Carr proceeded to trial, where the grim details of Tracy Greene's final moments were laid bare. Prosecutors presented evidence that painted a picture of a calculated and merciless act. According to the Niagara County District Attorney, Carr first shot Greene with a small-caliber rifle. When those initial shots proved not to be fatal, Carr left the barbershop only to return moments later armed with a 9 mm handgun. He then shot Greene six more times, with some of the shots fired at close range as Greene lay on the floor. In May 2023, a Niagara County jury found Antonio Carr guilty of second-degree murder and multiple weapons charges. Described as an extremely dangerous individual, Carr was sentenced to a term of 55 years to life in prison, ensuring a measure of justice for the brutal and senseless killing of Tracy Greene.
