In the late evening of August 9, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Huntington Station street, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Luis Cameron Rimmer-Hernandez, a 21-year-old male from Dix Hills, was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital after being found lying in Lowndes Avenue with a gunshot wound. The incident, which occurred around 10:49 p.m., was initially reported through a 911 call about gunshots in the area.
When Suffolk County police arrived at the scene, they discovered the gravely wounded Rimmer-Hernandez.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to a suspect who was just 14 years old at the time of the incident. Ramon Lyons, of Huntington Station, was arrested in connection with the killing.
