On the night of March 10, 2022, a dispute that began over a game of cards tragically escalated, leading to the death of 30-year-old Adiyb Ramkissoon in a Crown Heights, Brooklyn deli. The male victim was pursued into the corner store located at the intersection of Troy Avenue and St. John's Place at approximately 11:30 p.m. by an assailant who then shot him multiple times in the torso.
Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Ramkissoon to a nearby hospital, but he
succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Friends of the victim, who gathered for a candlelight vigil in his honor, described him as a loving father to a 14-year-old girl, as well as a cherished son, brother, and friend. They characterized him as a 'cool, respectful' individual.
According to a friend of Ramkissoon, the altercation that led to the fatal shooting began when accusations of cheating surfaced during a card game. Words were exchanged, and the suspect reportedly left the location only to return with a firearm.
