On a fall evening in the East New York section of Brooklyn, a dedicated young police officer’s life was tragically cut short. Brian R. Jones, a 27-year-old male officer with the New York City Police Department, was off-duty on October 13, 1996, when he found himself in a violent confrontation that would end in his death. He and a fellow officer were attempting to apprehend a man in connection with an assault.
