On a late Saturday night in Jamestown, New York, the sound of multiple gunshots shattered the peace in the area of East Sixth Street and American Place. When the incident was over, 37-year-old Shawn Black, a male resident of Lockport, was dead. The shooting occurred around 11:25 p.m. on April 30, 2022.
Following the gunfire, Black was transported by a private vehicle, which had sustained significant damage from the gunshots, to UPMC Chautauqua. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after his arrival. This violent act marked the first homicide in Jamestown for the year 2022.
The Jamestown Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting death. Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that might lead to an arrest in the case. To date, no arrests have been made, and police have not released any information regarding potential suspects or a motive for the shooting.
