In the afternoon hours of September 30, 2022, in Albany, New York, the life of 18-year-old William McArthur Sanders was tragically cut short. Sanders, a recent graduate of Albany High School, was found on Hamilton Street with gunshot wounds to his torso. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting led Albany police to a nearby residence on Hamilton Street, where they believed the suspect was hiding. After a standoff that lasted for at least an hour and a half, the Emergency Services Team executed a search warrant. Inside the basement of the home, they located and apprehended 20-year-old Brian Moses of Albany. During the search, investigators also recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
Following his arrest, Brian Moses was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned the following morning and subsequently sent to the Albany County Jail. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released by authorities. William McArthur Sanders was an avid boxer and was actively involved in his church.
