In the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, on a Friday afternoon just before Christmas, the life of 40-year-old Elgin Reynolds was brought to a violent and sudden end. It was around 12:15 p.m. on December 23, 2022, when a confrontation unfolded on 165th Street. An assailant, armed with a firearm, approached Reynolds. In an attempt to save himself, Reynolds turned to flee, but his efforts were in vain. The gunman opened fire, striking him in the leg, torso, and face.
