Carlton X. Fletcher, a 32-year-old police officer with the Prince George's County Police Department, tragically lost his life on June 12, 1983, in Lanham, Maryland. Officer Fletcher was working off-duty as a security guard at a local convenience store on the 8700 block of Greenbelt Road when he was ambushed and shot by an armed robbery suspect.
