Jeffery Alan Wroten, a 44-year-old correctional officer, tragically died on January 27, 2006, from injuries sustained while on duty at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland. Wroten was guarding an inmate, Brandon Morris, who was receiving medical treatment at the hospital. In the early hours of January 26, 2006, Morris managed to overpower Wroten, seize his service weapon, and shoot him in the face. Wroten succumbed to his injuries the following day.
