In the pre-dawn hours of January 9, 2007, the life of 34-year-old Troy Lamont Chesley Sr., a dedicated Baltimore Police Department detective, came to a tragic and abrupt end. After completing his shift, the 13-year veteran of the force was arriving at his girlfriend's home in the West Forest Park neighborhood of Northwest Baltimore.
