On the night of February 11, 2007, 16-year-old Courtney Lawrence Manning Jr. was driving his mother's green Cadillac CTS in Clinton, Maryland. He was taking his friends home from a birthday party held at the Neon teenage nightclub. As he waited at a traffic light on Woodyard Road, a dark-colored car with tinted windows, possibly a Honda Accord, pulled up alongside his vehicle. Suddenly, an occupant in the other car opened fire, striking the young man twice in the head.
The assailant's vehicle then sped away from the scene.
Courtney was gravely wounded but was transported for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries. His mother, LaShonne Williams, has spoken publicly about her profound grief and the enduring pain of losing her son. She recalls her last conversation with him, a brief phone call that ended with a promise to talk later that tragically never came.
The investigation into Courtney Manning's murder has been ongoing for many years, but to date, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved. His mother has made continuous pleas to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for her son's death. Authorities have also urged anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward.
