In the early evening of January 3, 2019, a tragic series of events unfolded in Clinton, Maryland, culminating in the death of 19-year-old Robert Glasco. Glasco, a resident of Capitol Heights, was fatally shot during what police determined to be an illegal drug transaction that escalated into a violent exchange of gunfire. The incident also claimed the life of another 19-year-old, Shaquan Chambers of Clinton.
The evening's violence began to come to light when police were called to the
5900 block of Surratts Village Drive around 7:05 p.m. for a report of a shooting. There, they discovered Chambers suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Shortly after, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Glasco arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Investigators soon determined that Glasco and Chambers were part of two separate groups that had arranged to meet on Sweden Road for a drug deal. It is believed that the transaction was a setup, with the intention of a robbery. During the course of this planned robbery, gunfire was exchanged between the two groups, leading to the fatal shooting of both Glasco and Chambers. The two deceased men were known to each other.
The Prince George's County Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation, which led to the identification and arrest of two suspects. Sean Davis Jr., 20, of Accokeek, and Deven Wright, 19, of Suitland, were taken into custody in connection with the double homicide. Wright was apprehended in the District of Columbia and awaited extradition to Prince George's County. Both men were charged with first and second-degree murder, assault, and other related charges for their roles in the deadly shooting.
