In a tragic turn of events on August 16, 2019, 37-year-old Kelvin Rascoe, a male, lost his life in what Prince George's County police have described as a domestic-related murder-suicide. The incident unfolded inside a residence on the 11700 block of Mordente Drive in Clinton, Maryland, where both Kelvin and his brother resided.
Authorities were dispatched to the home around 12:05 p.m. following a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Kelvin Rascoe suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A further search of the home led to the discovery of his younger brother, 32-year-old Benjamin Rascoe, in a bathroom with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He too was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation conducted by the Homicide Unit suggests that the two brothers had been involved in a physical altercation. The dispute escalated to a fatal point when Benjamin Rascoe shot and killed his older brother, Kelvin. Shortly after, Benjamin turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.
The case was investigated as a murder-suicide, with Benjamin Rascoe identified as the suspect in the death of his brother. As the suspect also died at the scene, the investigation did not lead to any arrests or criminal charges. The authorities did not release a motive for the altercation that led to the deadly outcome.
