On November 14, 2007, at approximately 9:49 a.m., 56-year-old Torean Thomas Edon was fatally shot outside his residence on the 2500 block of Edfeldt Drive in District Heights, Maryland. This area is notably close to several schools, including Mount Calvary Elementary and Bishop McNamara High Schools, and had experienced multiple homicides in the preceding years.
