When patrol officers arrived around 12:10 a.m., they discovered the lifeless body of 24-year-old Nathaniel Hampton III inside a vehicle. The young man from Upper Marlboro had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Known to his loved ones as Nate, Nathaniel was a promising and athletic individual.
He had excelled in football, basketball, and track throughout his school years, even earning a full scholarship to West Virginia State University for his academic and athletic abilities. His passion for football was evident from a young age, and he was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also a valued member of his family's business, where he was eager to learn and contribute to the family legacy.
