Man dies in triple shooting
In the warm, early morning hours of Monday, July 3, 2017, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet, leaving tragedy in its wake. Timothy Maurice Armstrong, a 39-year-old African-American man, was fatally wounded in the incident. He and a friend, Tyrone Brumfield, were sitting on the steps of a home in the 1900 block of Spanish Town Road at approximately 1:25 a.m.
The two men were talking with Brumfield's fiancée, Donna Roberson, who had just arrived from work and was seated in her truck. Without warning, an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire on the group. All three were struck by the gunfire. Brumfield, 52, died at the scene. Armstrong was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Roberson was also wounded but survived the attack.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Baton Rouge Police Department launched an investigation into the double homicide. Despite their efforts, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or a motive for the shooting.
