In the winter of 2014, a grim discovery was made inside a Capitol Heights, Maryland apartment that left a community in shock. On the evening of Saturday, February 22nd, police were called to the Lexington Court Apartments in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike. Inside one of the units, they found the bodies of three individuals, launching what would become a complex triple homicide investigation.
One of the victims was identified as Ortiz Alphonzo Ola, a 38-year-old male.
Alongside Ola were 33-year-old Staci Taneesha White and 33-year-old Weldon Roosevelt Mason. Investigators determined that all three victims had suffered from trauma, and their deaths were quickly ruled as homicides. In the immediate aftermath, Prince George's County Police worked to piece together the events that led to the tragic loss of three lives. They canvassed the neighborhood, passing out flyers with the victims' photos and asking for the public's help. A significant reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Early in the investigation, police learned that Mason and White were colleagues at a retail store in Laurel, and that Ola and Mason were friends. Despite their efforts and the public appeal for information, authorities did not immediately identify a suspect or a motive for the killings. As of the latest available online information, there have been no announced arrests or suspects publicly identified in the murders of Ortiz Alphonzo Ola, Staci Taneesha White, and Weldon Roosevelt Mason.
