In the early evening of August 7, 2022, a dispute in a parking lot in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights, Maryland, turned fatal, claiming the life of 22-year-old Robert Earl Price of Washington, D.C. The young man was discovered by Prince George's County police officers around 6:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Southern Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of first responders, Mr.
Price was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect who was known to the victim. Authorities identified 32-year-old Randy McFail of Capitol Heights as the individual responsible for the death of Robert Price. A preliminary investigation suggested that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the two men. Following the incident, McFail fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement.
Less than a month after the shooting, on August 24, 2022, the Prince George's County Police Department announced that they had charged Randy McFail with first-degree murder and other related charges in connection with Price's death and were actively seeking his whereabouts. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to his arrest and indictment. The search for McFail concluded on a Tuesday in early October 2022, when he was taken into custody by the City of Bowie Police Department. Following his arrest, McFail was held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status, facing charges of first and second-degree murder.
