In the early hours of August 4, 2014, the tranquility of a rural Street, Maryland home was shattered by a violent home invasion that resulted in the death of 38-year-old Thomas Richard Anderson. A male, Mr. Anderson was at home with his wife and 14-year-old daughter when three masked men forced their way into their residence on Trappe Road.
The intruders, at least two of whom were armed with handguns, confronted the family, demanding money. In a heroic act to protect his family, particularly his daughter who had a gun held to her head, Thomas Anderson fought back against the assailants. During the struggle, he was shot in the upper torso and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His wife was also reportedly pistol-whipped during the terrifying ordeal.
The suspects fled the home with a small amount of cash, leaving behind a devastated family and a community in shock. The Harford County Sheriff's Office immediately launched an investigation, identifying the motive as robbery. Despite their efforts and pleas to the public for information, the three suspects have never been identified or apprehended.
