Jan Cotto, a 51-year-old resident of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was tragically shot and killed on the night of April 6, 2017. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Zelma Avenue and Central Avenue, close to her home. Cotto was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after. Neighbors described her as a kind and cheerful person who often sang while walking to and from the Addison Road Metro stop.
