J’Lyn Quinones, an 18-year-old pregnant woman from Capitol Heights, Maryland, was tragically shot and killed on April 20, 2021. Quinones, who was six months pregnant, was crossing the street with another woman when they were both shot. The incident occurred near Quinn Street and Southern Avenue. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Quinones did not survive. However, her newborn baby was delivered through emergency surgery and is expected to survive.
