In the fall of 2017, a tragedy unfolded in a granite manufacturing business in Edgewood, Maryland, forever changing the lives of several families. On the morning of October 18th, a 53-year-old Mongolian man named Bayarsaikhan Tudev went to his job at Advanced Granite Solutions, a place he enjoyed working at so much that he endured a daily commute of over two hours.
That day, however, his American dream turned into a nightmare when a coworker, Radee Labeeb Prince, opened fire inside the workplace. Tudev, along with two other colleagues, Jose Hidalgo Romero and Enis Mrvoljak, was fatally shot in the attack.
The gunman, Prince, did not stop there. After the shooting in Edgewood, he drove to Wilmington, Delaware, where he shot and wounded another man at a used car dealership. This second act of violence intensified the urgency of the subsequent manhunt, which involved local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. For ten hours, authorities searched for Prince, who was considered armed and dangerous. The pursuit ended late that night when he was spotted in Newark, Delaware. After a brief foot chase, Prince was arrested without further incident.
In the aftermath of the horrific events, details emerged about the shooter's troubled past, including a history of workplace altercations. Tudev's widow revealed that her husband had been concerned about Prince's volatile temper, a concern so great that he had mentioned it during church prayer sessions. Prince was later ordered to be extradited back to Maryland to face charges for the workplace shooting. The community was left to mourn the loss of Bayarsaikhan Tudev, a man remembered by his loved ones as a devout Christian and a devoted family man who had moved to the United States from Mongolia in pursuit of a better life.
