The incident was part of a larger, terrifying string of events that had gripped the community.
The investigation into Harris's death led authorities to a 31-year-old man named Mausean Carter.
It was discovered that Carter had embarked on a violent spree, targeting individuals he believed to be involved in the local drug trade. According to court documents, Carter confessed to the shooting of Martrell Harris, claiming that Harris and his associates had been harassing him and his girlfriend. This admission was part of a broader confession detailing his multi-day rampage. The evidence presented during the legal proceedings against Carter included witness testimony who saw gunfire coming from a Lexus linked to him.
Mausean Carter was subsequently charged with a multitude of crimes, including the murder of Martrell Harris and another individual, along with ten counts of attempted murder and numerous gun-related offenses.
