On a tragic evening in Parkville, Maryland, the life of 30-year-old Jasmine Alisha Kennedy was cut short. On May 1, 2018, a domestic dispute escalated to a fatal act of violence when her husband, Eric Maurice Glass, shot her inside their home on Wentworth Road. The incident unfolded as a harrowing sequence of events that left a family shattered and a community in shock.
Jasmine, who was pregnant at the time, was rushed to a local hospital.
In a bittersweet turn of events, doctors were able to deliver her baby, who was born into a world of uncertainty, listed in critical but stable condition. Tragically, Jasmine succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead the following day after being removed from life support. The violence of that night did not end with the shooting of Jasmine. Her 14-year-old son was also assaulted by Glass.
In the midst of the chaos, Jasmine’s children, including the 14-year-old and his younger siblings, aged 11 and 6, managed to escape to a neighbor's house seeking safety. However, Glass followed them, forcing his way into the neighbor’s home and assaulting the residents. Another neighbor intervened and was able to detain Glass until police arrived and took him into custody. Law enforcement officials noted that there had been no prior calls for domestic disturbances at the couple's residence.
Following the incident, Eric Maurice Glass was arrested and initially faced a slew of charges including attempted murder, first-degree assault, child abuse, and burglary. He was held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. With Jasmine's death, authorities stated that the charges against him would be upgraded.
